Here are some updates, live from Maryhill. Racing is currently under way. Yat-dawg is lining up as the Open racing begins.
Here is how the Aussies went in the Juniors.
Josh and Merrick made it to 2nd round in Juniors (J2 category= older Juniors) .
They both landed in the same round two race as Evren. Merrick slid out on the second last corner (Cowsers) after a push from someone and Josh passed him and made through to the Quarter Finals.
Josh’s Quarter Final was with Alex Tongue, Evren and Spencer Smith! Three of the fastest juniors in the world. How much fun is Josh having!!! Josh went down fighting for the Aussies in the quarters, his Maryhill race adventure over, only freeriding left.
Merrick still had open race, because of his excellent qualifying time.
In the Open racing, he drew big bad Dalua in his heat. He managed to run second all the way, with Dalua way out in front the whole race.
Going through Cowser corner, Merrick slides on exit, doesn’t fall but loses all his speed! Merrick gets passed so places 4th in the heat and he’s out of race day. Awesome job, he can only dream of what might have been, sticking the exit from Cowsers corner. It might be the big fish that got away story on ASRA in the next few weeks.

UPDATE
In the men’s open semi final, Yates sandbagged the semi, going from 5th at the start to 2nd. However Alex Tongue, the unstopped junior, drafted Yatesy to the line and beats him by half an inch.
In the Classic Luge, big crash, with Yatesy day ending in the haybales.
Alex Tongue won the Juniors.
Zak Maytum wins the Open Downhill on his slalom board!! K-Rimes 2nd. Scoot 3rd.
No word yet on the women’s results.
