Jackson Shapiera finishes another awesome episode of his Danger Bay to LA series.
Check out what the stars of longboarding are up to, get sucked into some Canadian longboard action. You’ll see why Vancouver is the land of gnar and steez.
Another awesome Bowl-a-rama at Bondi, Chad and the boys showing the world how to put on a kick arse event.
Everyone, except for the Hopshop, were surprised at the winner of the Open division: Pedro Barros. You all know since last year we have be raving on about the young kid from Brazil. Pocket Pistols does not just pick up anyone, and to be on their team as a 14 year you have to be special. Well Pedro has won back to back bowl-a-rama’s, wins in Wellington and Bondi.
Pedro out snaked everyone in the final, pulling off 540s, corner airs, nose grinds and smith grinds in a charging take all attitude. Read a great wrap up written by Sasha on the World Cup Skateboarding website

It is old news now, that Louis Pilloni has been picked up by Sector 9. Here is his first video, showing some steeze on a Bullet.
It is good news that Sector 9 is expanding it’s team this year, and there will be more S9 racers at IGSA events. From what Louis has told us, his travel plans include Newton’s Playground in 2010, a huge shot in the arm for the Australian scene.
In totally unrelated news, Sector 9 boards will be in the Hopshop in March, including the Bullet.

We’ll promote anything that is skate and looks like fun, even if it is SDS our competition that are putting it on. Don’t know if you could class them as our competition, we have more hardware than clothes, and SDS is a clothes shop right?
It is called Broken Bones. It is a skate demo at Chatswood Westfields, Level 3 Centre Court.
There is no Hop gnar/rad guarantee but a few big names will be there, how bad can it be?
Bob Burnquist, Rune Glifberg, Bucky Lasek, Juergen Horrwarth, Sergie Ventura, Corbin Harris, Jackson Pliz, Renton Millar, Kieran Reilly, Bjorn Johnson and Barney the dinosaur!!!
Get there early and make sure you clear room near one of the big glass windows, we want to see a skateboard go through one.
Start time 3.30pm this Thursday 18th February.
Heaps of prizes, there is always a skate grab. Plus SDS and Volcom are sparing no expense and giving away free t-shirts. Limited edition, with a dinosaur on it, that looks even radder than Barney. Not in purple, budget only stretched to black and white (t-shirts white).
note: Barney the might not be there, which is sad, because nothing says skateboarding more than a man in an animal suit doing a kickflip.
The Sydney Groms tore up the Master of the Hill event and walked away with all the cash.
In a tale of two events, there were two major skate competitions on last weekend. The kick flippers had Battle for Supemacy and ASRA had Master of the Hill (MOTH). Battle for Supremacy was canceled but MOTH was not. The downhill skaters not scared of a bit of rain. Maybe the kick flippers thought their tiny little wheels would dissolve in the rain.
Killara High cleaned up with 1st, 2nd and 3rd on the Grom’s podium and Cooper backing up with a 2nd on the Junior’s podium.
The big news was Hopkin Racing has finally given away some cash for our T-shirt podium guarantee.
Cooper Kruize, who is only 15 years old, won $700 from his first day ever of racing. That is almost as much as the prize money for each skater at Battle of Supremacy ($1000 each). No wonder all the kids are buying longboards, not only is it more fun, there is money in it!!
Groms podium
1st Cooper Kruize
2nd Scott Poole
3rd Ilan Aarons (Steve Daddow standing in for Ilan)
Juniors podium Master of the Hill 2010
1st Merrick Wildash
2nd Cooper Kruize
3rd Gabe Gwynne
Jackson has been doing some filming for Rush TV on ABC3. His profile video is the first part to be used, went to air a few months ago. We know you dont have time to watch everything on TV, so get caught up and watch the vid below. And keep an eye on RushTV, there will be more Jackson videos to come.
As most of you know, Jackson injured himself at the end of 2009. It was a low speed crash, just a freak accident that resulted in surgery to repair the damage. He has been progressing well. Last month he lost the cast, and a few weeks ago the metal pins were removed. He is mobile again, hobbling around but into major rehabilitation. Heaps of physio, exercise and movement to get the ankle up to full strength for the start of the Canadian race season.
How do you rehabilitate a downhill injury?
Jackson shows us, in the only way he knows how, via a video. His first video without a skateboard!!
How beautiful is the harbour in Sydney? Check out this film shot in the harbour at Shelly Beach, one of Sydney’s harbour beaches.
The most talked about trucks in 2009 and 2010 have landed in the Hopshop. All the longboarders can stop reading and go for a skate, it’s all about the short board on the blog today.
We have been following the progression of Theeve trucks for over a year. A select few Australian Vert skaters have been testing the trucks for a while. A lot of those trucks are the protos of TiH truck. This is the world’s first titanium axleless hanger. WTF. Ready for this? They cast the hanger and axle together, then machine down the axle to 8mm. This creates a truck that has an axle and hanger as one. The ultimate in strength. Cast in a Titanium alloy compound. How strong are these trucks? Some of our Vert friends have been on the same set of trucks since getting them. They have been unable to bend an axle. These might just be the last set of trucks you ever buy!
I now have to throw cold water on the party. The TiH trucks have not been released. However the next best thing are in the skateshop ready to go. That is the TiAX truck. The TiAX skateboard truck is still cast out of the Titanium Alloy blend, but they have inserted 6/4 Aerospace Titanium axles. The result is a stronger truck than anything else out there, but super light. Compared to a normal cast truck, you are looking at a 40% weight saving.
Needless to say, these trucks are at our premium end of what we offer. At $119 including shipping, still within everyone’s reach.
Check out the models we have in stock. If there is a colourway you are looking for and it is not listed, email or call the skateshop and we can order them in for you.
