Photos of the Aussies at Maryhill Day 4

The mystery of why Yatsey has been skating so fast has been solved. And also why I have been unable to find him in the photos. He has a new helmet. Yatsey has himself a Risch helmet. Day Four photos – we’ll start with Yatsey and his new helmet

Day Four qualifying times

Big headwinds today that caused slower times, about 4 to 5 seconds slower for the Aussies

Yatsey’s time was 3:18
Jacko and Steve times were around 3:23

Fastest time of the day was Canadian Patrick Switzer on 3:13

No word on Nathan’s times, he could be in trouble as he was sitting outside the top 90 which is where the finals cut off is. He really needed a big time today to knock off 30 places and make the finals. Ben from Grombiz shoud be ok, he was close to the cut off.

Partial race report is up on IGSA World Cup . Full report with final qualifying times and list of racers that made the finals will be up soon.

Tomorrow is finals day! There should be four Aussies competing. And a new World Champion in 24 hours !!!

Day 3 Qualifying at Maryhill

The word from the Australians is that Maryhill is a “sik hill”. That’s Yatesy speak!

Surface is super smooth, corners are tight and long. Legs are burning at the end of the run. Add to that mix a burning sun and heat, it is all taking its toll, making Maryhill one of the most challenging races of the year.

The free riding has been getting more intense as the days progress. What started as easy hill bombs is turning into competitive race lines, with draughting and bump runs.

The Australians have been flying the flag, showing the Americans some good ole Aussie “bring it”. Before qualifying, the Australians did two film runs, flying the Australian flag, 7 man train, tight. So look out for those photos on silverfish tonight!!!

First qualifying run started with calm conditions but ended with a major tail wind. Those at the end of the run got a major bonus. It looks like the wind will be the major factor this year in qualifying. Unfortunately most of the Australians were at the start of the qualifying.

Daddo’s 1st qualifying time 316.6
Yatsey’s 1st qualifying time 317.3 – after tripping at the start and losing his board!!!!
Jacko 1st qualifying 318.6

Martin Siegrist fastest today on 308.9

Second qualifying scheduled now for tomorrow.

No word on how the other Australians are going. They are all in there with great times, anything can happen in racing.
